Riverside Plaza
Modernist apartments designed by architect Ralph Rapson. Completed in 1973, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. More info on wikipedia - there’s more to this place than some negative epithets.
Also, check out this fascinating Q&A with Rapson in Mpls St. Paul Magazine from 2007. He was still working as an architect at age 93 when he died in 2008.
Ghetto Towers.
These aren’t “Ghetto Towers”. This was housing that was built for U of M students. Just happens that they got turned into public housing. This a slick, racist comment that deserves to be called out on. Are you fucking hipsters in the ghetto every time you go to a show across the street at the Triple Rock? Oh, but because a bunch of non-white people live there it’s ghetto, right?
Think before you type, people. And fuck off with your racist shit.
Preach it Andy.
Reblogging something from 3 days ago with commentary. Its not so much that calling that part of the U of M/Riverside...
I think nobody has pointed it out because they are too busy being sorry Mary moved out of her first apartment,...
It’s known as a landmark and though the intentions were good, like basically everything, it went to shit. Get the fuck...
FOR GOD’S SAKE ARE NONE OF YOU GOING TO POINT OUT THAT THIS IS WHERE MARY TYLER MOORE LIVED ALREADY OR WHAT!
Rebloggin this cos I always gave my sister shit that she would end up living in these.
Reblogging for above comment ˆˆˆ I too think they look shanky!
Aww, Minneapolis
its own. Anyway, nice photo, wr3n.
Riverside Plaza was brought up often in my Sociology classes, with many classmates (Sociology majors, they sure are)...
I always just stare at these buildings when we drive past.
I’m still astonished at how belligerently proud some people are of their ignorance.
